The Ascent – Day by Day

Offered across 5-6 days, with pacing tailored to your route and rhythm.

Begin at Marangu Gate and climb steadily through lush rainforest toward Mandara Hut. The trail is well-defined and shaded, offering a gentle introduction to the mountain.

Leave the forest behind as the landscape opens into moorland. Sweeping views emerge as you continue upward at a steady, comfortable pace toward Horombo.

An active rest day designed to support acclimatization. Hike toward the striking Zebra Rocks before returning to Horombo, allowing your body time to adjust.

Traverse the alpine desert saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. The terrain feels stark and expansive as you arrive at Kibo Hut, your base for summit night.

A midnight start leads to Gilman’s Point before continuing to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating the summit, descend back to Horombo for rest and recovery.
